Coby TFDVD7009 Portable DVD/CD/MP3 Player Review (B0036R76R4)

This compact little player from Coby comes at a great price. It has 7-Inch widescreen TFT LCD. It has been designed with portability in mind and has been built with anti-skip circuitry. It’s got integrated stereo speakers, a headphone jack for private listening, and provides Dolby Digital decoding. Using the AV outputs you can connect it to home theater systems.

In addition you can avail of the capability to handle multiple languages, subtitles, and camera angle support. Another useful feature is the parental lock controls.

Pros:

More than a few purchasers mentioned that they liked the fact that the player is compact and light, yet very sturdy. It is robust; several users say that their little kids have been using this player and that it has withstood even being dropped and stepped on. It has a non-slip base, which users also state is a very practical.

Many people who were looking for an inexpensive player express great satisfaction with the Coby 7009, and quite a few say that its performance actually surpassed expectations.

Other buyers were pleased that the low price also included headphones and a remote control.

Even though this is a low cost item, users say that it provides good picture quality (and has been said that it may even give a better picture than some TVs). The sound output is very good (which has been even more appreciated by users when using headphones or when the device was connected to an amp or home theatre).

Several users say that they are pleased with the battery time; it may last up to 4 hours before it needs to be recharged.

Several consumers point out that the Coby TFDVD7009 is easy to use. It is DVD, DVD±R/RW, CD, CD-R/RW, JPEG, and MP3 compatible.

Cons:

A few buyers say that the quality does not appear to be great and that some units may skip.

Users mention that there is no menu button on the unit itself – only on the remote.

In addition, buyers say that it may not be all that simple for children to operate and that closing the screen will stop the movie altogether (you will need to manually find where you were last at). The same applies if the device is paused for too long.

Others point out that there is no TV and car adapter cables included (audio and video cables must be bought separately, but it does come with an AC charger). Purchasing the TV and car adapter cables may add up to $20 (or more) to the price which means that the total cost may make it closer in price to Sony etc.

Some end users have found that it does not appear to be able to play all types of recorded DVDs.

The unit does not come with a protective case (however, these can be purchased separately.

The Coby TFDVD7009 7-Inch Portable DVD/CD/MP3 Player is a great little player that many buyers have said performs better than expected. It is robust and easy to use.
