Pros
One particular person tested the Panasonic by playing discs for almost 10 hours every day, and was happy that it did more or less exactly what she wanted it to do.
Another individual was happy that for a very reasonable price, you get a high quality player that plays whatever disc you throw at it (not literally of course!). Panasonic is a reliable name in home entertainment players and usually can be trusted to produce solid equipment.
The Panasonic remote control was also said to be very simple and easy to use.
Cons
One complaint was that any movies recorded in unconventional hour formats ( not 2, 6 and
didn’t sync audio and visual perfectly which resulted in a slightly unnerving experience while trying to watch films.
Another issue that one consumer had was that there was no automatic switch-off after the DVD had stopped playing, and it just remained on until it was manually switched off. As she had this function on her Tv, she was disappointed that this player didn’t.
One or two people said that in contrast to what is advertised, this Panasonic S38 does not support DVD-RAM and that potential buyers need to be aware of this before purchasing.
Another issue that may cause some compatibility issues is the fact that this player does not have a HDMI input.
The very fast action of the DVD tray was a problem that one person had – they said that you really had to be quick about putting the disc in and out of the tray, otherwise it closes too quickly and the disc gets stuck and potentially damaged.
Small, compact, simple and efficient – this Progressive S38 DVD Player from Panasonic does exactly what it says on the box!
