Philips DVP3560/F7 DVD Player Review (B003LWXJ2A)

The Philips DVP3560/F7 DVD Player with 1080p HDMI upscaling and multimedia DivX gives you crisp, distinct images. The Progressive Scan function doubles the vertical resolution of the image creating a definitely cleaner and bigger picture. The Screen Fit feature makes sure that the picture fills the whole screen.

The DVP3560 is a DivX Ultra Certified device enabling you to play large files like movies, trailers and music videos on media like CD-R/RW and DVD recordable discs.

This is a great value for money item and includes many more useful features such as the front USB slot which allows you to quickly access videos saved on a flash drive. It has a slim and stylish appearance and will not look out of place next to high end products.

Pros:

Users are generally very pleased with their purchase and say that the DVP3560 provides a level of picture quality (out of the box with no adjustments) comparable to high-end units commanding upwards of three times the price. In fact the low price is mentioned by many consumers, and they are usually very impressed with the level of its performance considering that it is so cheap.

The device has exceptional ability to upscale. It performs quietly too, which is appreciated by users.

The instruction manual is very clear. Set up is quick and easy and you do not need to know a lot about electronic gadgets to do so.

Reviews also indicate that the USB slot on the front is very useful. This input is terrific for transferring files from your PC to watch on your TV - no more having to burn a CD or DVD anytime you want to watch or listen to something.

The unit has no problems reading almost any format file and it's so easy to switch from USB to DVD via the remote. People are pleased that it is capable of playing divx format too (e.g from converted home videos).

Cons:

You could end up with a defective player that says “No Disc” on the display.
It may not be able to play WMV files and it may have problems playing some recorded discs too.

One user reported that the subtitles may appear transparent which means when there are bright areas in the video behind the subtitles, the subtitles can not be read. This could be down to a faulty unit though, as no one else has documented this problem.

You may need to download the firmware from Philips to get rid of a green line that may appear on your TV screen when the player is used.
Finally, it is slow to load DVDs and the remote is disliked by a number of buyers.

The Philips DVP3560/F7 DVD Player gives great performance, and has a lot of neat features at a really low price.
